Next to him is seated one guy Keshav Rajpurohit. Keshav speaks to chetan bhagat and tells him that he has one story. Initially the author rejects the proposal but after talking for a while and a boring conversation chetan agrees to listen to the story of keshav.
Now story goes in flashback, keshav Keshav rajpurohit is an IITian who works as a teacher at JEE coaching center in delhi. There he gets into a strong friendship with saurabh. Keshav’s mother is a homemaker and his father is a senior member of Rss. When keshav was in IIT he fell in love with a beautiful kashmiri muslim girl named Zara lone but unfortunately their love story didn’t work and they broke up.
All the conflicts in their relationship were due to the religious conflicts.
Zara’s family wanted keshav to accept Islam, if he wishes to marry her but he couldn’t do that as he comes from Rss background. Now keshav couldn’t come out of their relationship so, he often calls Zara and tell her to come back but zara never agrees. Keshav messages her on every social media app but nothing works. Now it’s been four years and keshav is still obsessing over her.
Now one day on Zara’s birthday keshav controls his feelings and decides not to call her. He and saurabh drank wine and fall asleep but around 3 a.m. keshav gets a text from zara lone, out of the blue asking why he didn’t wish her on her birthday. Also, she tells him to meet her in room 105 of her hostel. Kesha without giving a single thought rushes towards her hostel.

On the other hand Raghu, zara’s current boyfriend is admitted in Apollo hospital in hyderabad as he is badly beaten up by someone few days back. So, zara is alone in room one of five. On reaching there keshav climbs up the mango tree and slides into the zara’s room from window which is kept open waiting for his arrival. He finds that the room is dark and zara is asleep on the bed Or He touches her forehead and feels cold And He immediately opens the light and sees her dead.
Yes! you heard it right.
Zara is no more. So, he informs saurabh who suggests to run away from the scene but keshav becomes more determined to find the killer. Keshav informs the police, zara’s parents and raghu about the same. Police arrests the watchman who is missing during the time when zara was killed. Keshav continues his investigation and he gets into the case deeper with the help of inspector vikas rana.
Their first suspect is professor saxena who tries to harass zara once but it is proved that he is not the killer as professor saxena has limb. So, he couldn’t climb the tree. Secondly raghu, zara’s current boyfriend is also admitted in apollo hospital in Hyderabad. So, he is also not the killer.
Now keshav tries to find sikandar, zara’s step brother who is a part of a terrorist group in Kashmir. Keshav takes permission from zara’s father and checks her room in case he finds any clue. There he finds a locker with gunpowder, pregnancy kit and selfies of sikandar with a gun along with zara smiling in the picture. Keshav connects the clues one by one.

He first tries to meet sikandar and ask him about his group Tej. Sikandar explains to them that he is not the murderer but keshav believes that sikandar has killed his sister in the fear that tej might be known to the army. Next day sikandar kills himself saying that his existence would harm his group and convinced that he didn’t killed his sister. On this keshav realizes that he made a mistake by doubting upon him and keshav is very disturbed as he is nowhere in the case.

Keshav then finds about the pregnancy kit of zara and sees a picture of zara with an army officer Captain Faiz Khan, on her social media So after investigation he finds out that this army officer has gifted zara very expensive jewelry and they raid his house in delhi. They find the same pregnancy kid there and checked his internet history regarding search on abortion and divorce.
They get convinced with the theory that Faiz made zara pregnant and in guilt he killed her.They found some gold blocks too from his house. So, now keshav arrange a dinner party to announce the killer and arrest him unknowingly by inviting everyone Zara knew.
This party is organized on the 100th day of zara’s death.
Before this keshav goes on a small trip to hyderabad and this is exactly the same trip where he meets Chetan bhagat and tells his story. Now the present time starts from here. So, keshav tells chetan bhagat the whole story till here and now chetan bhagat is very curious to know about the end so he gives his card and number to keshav and tells him to inform him what next in the dinner party.
So, in dinner party everyone delivers their message in remembrance of Zara and there after a while keshav realizes that raghu, zara’s boyfriend is the killer. Raghu confesses that he has killed zara it is because he found out that zara had an affair with her childhood friend Captain Faiz and was pregnant with his child too.
Raghu added that zara used to call him black and make fun of him. So, after this raghu reveals that after killing zara he texted keshav from her phone and calls him to the hostel in room 105. So, that everyone would like feel like keshav as the murderer.
Now saurabh asks keshav that how he came to know about all this.
To which keshav added that he got some clues regarding raghu and in order to investigate he went to Hyderabad in apollo hospital to make sure that whatever he is thinking is actually possible or not and he noticed that within 30 minutes he reached Hyderabad. So, this made him more clear that raghu did the same way and this is how he turned out his plan and hence proved that raghu is the murderer.
Now, here comes the twist to the story When captain faiz reveals that zara wasn’t pregnant.
To which everyone got shocked they were close but she wasn’t pregnant with his baby. He added that zara was loyal to raghu and she wanted to marry him as soon as possible because she wanted to start new life soon with raghu.
